The monthly challenge for March as set by Azazel was twofold, a squad and/or something gender ambiguous. Having posted my contribution for “Gender Ambiguous” last week this week sees my submission for a “Squad”.
As a non gamer I have applied my own interpretation and thus have gone with Wyatt Earp, his brothers Virgil and Morgan and of course Doc Holliday. All the figures are Knuckleduster 28mm heroic scale and have been modelled on the characters portrayed in the film Tombstone starring Kurt Russell as Wyatt and Val Kilmer as Doc. Simply lovely figures to paint!
Individual figure images below along with a group shot at the end.

Great group! Painting figures in all black can easily go wrong, but you’ve done a great job here.

Beautiful work, TIM. Black can be a right bitch to paint but you’ve pulled it off really nicely with subtle highlights and tonal differences between the different textures and clothing items. Great stuff!

Thanks mate. I don’t mind painting black so much these days but white, now that’s a different story all together!

Very nice indeed! All individuals in their own right but making a great squad. Getting a dusty look to black isn’t easy, but you’ve got this lot spot on, well done!

Thanks John. Unlike other western figures these iconic charachters needed to be in keeping with the incidenf and period so little room for poetic licence!

Oh yes!!!! Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant
Love these man. I’m tempted to buy these myself now. They’re really cool sculpts and you’ve done a terrific job with them. How did you highlight the black?

Knuckleduster are real quality, you should check out the Gunfighters Ball figures on the website, some are fantastic charachters. The black was highlighted just by dry brushing. Started with near black and graduated down.

Great place to start. Reckon when you see them you will buy some more. The castings really pop when they have been undercoated. Enjoy.

I say ditto to all above comments. The black, highlights, and shading here are top-notch. Been the weapons and buttons give depth of color. Just wow!

Superb, as others have said black is a tricky colour to paint but those are really nicely done.
Cheers,
Pete.
