TIM’s Mid Week Miniature
This week we have yet another Knuckleduster miniature, this one goes by the name of Johnny Deuce. I still have quite a few more in my to do pile but as I have a number of others figures as well I have primed some of them in the hope that next week I can treat you to something different.

Great Film Lines
I’m not in need of new modelling ideas at the moment, I’ve got more than enough to keep me busy for years as things currently stand but I had an idea. Now it’s far from an original one but I got to thinking that great film lines would provide an excellent source for diorama ideas, always assuming you can find the right fìgure(s) that is. So I got to thinking about great movie lines and came up with the following inspirational short list:
- “I’ll be back” – Terminator
- “Go ahead, make my day” – Dirty Harry, Sudden Impact
- “We rob banks” – Bonnie and Clyde
- “I see dead people” – The 6th Sense
- “It’s alive! It’s alive!” – Frankenstein
- “I feel the need – the need for speed” – Top Gun
- “Say hello to my little friend” – Scarface
- “Yippie-ki-yay mother fucker” – Die Hard
- “Why so serious?” – The Dark Knight
- “You talkin’ to me?” – Taxi Driver
Obviously the potential is limitless so as and when I come up with others I will refine the list accordingly.
Feel free to make suggestions.

This week TIM has been listening to …
“Pinball Wizard” by The Who.

This week TIM has been watching …
“Jerry Maguire” starring Tom Cruise. Notwithstanding the height difference (I’m a fare bit taller) I’ve often been mistaken for Tom due to my winning smile and good looks, perhaps that’s why I like his films. OK I just like his films!

Remember …
No matter how far you push the envelope it remains stationery.

Until next time.
TIM
Nice mini. I like the fading on his jacket.
Suggestions
“If it bleeds, we can kill it.” – Predator
“I love the smell of Napalm in the morning” – Apocalypse Now
“Made it ma… Top of the world” – White Heat
“It’s Alive… It’s Alive” – Frankenstein
“Here’s Johnny” – The Shining
“Mind if I smoke? While you’re “eating?”” – Linda Lovelace – Deep Throat.

Surely “You shall not pass!!!” from LOTR? That would be a superb diorama…
Also, nice mini mate – those cards coming out of the sleeve are a blast!

Great film lines is a super idea for dioramas. I’ve see it done a lot with Lord of the Rings but not much with anything else, there’s got to be a lot of potential in it. I know you said you’ve got ideas queuing round the block waiting for attention (don’t we all) but there are so many Westerns that must be a goldmine to explore if you ever need it.
Now I’m thinking about it I’m tending to come at it the other way, thinking of miniature’s lines that provide lots of options and then thinking of films/novels that tie in. There are plenty of Viking models out there and Thirteenth Warrior had a lot of classic lines. Lots of Roman miniatures too and all kinds of films, books and TV shows about Rome. Loads of Lovecraft miniatures (of varying quality!). Stacks of Star Wars stuff. Plenty of Post Apocalyptic models so Mad Max should be easy. There’s that new Game of Thrones game, although I’ve not looked at it all that closely. Definitely an idea with a lot of mileage in it.

So much to do, so little time. Does get your mind going though doesn’t it? I have found several figures which I think are suitable for some of the film lines already and have added them to my ever growing list of ideas. The other angle on it I think is not necessarily to associate the film line with a model of the film. “Go ahead make my day” could just as easily apply to, say, a SiFi model as mirroring Dirty Harry. One things for sure, I’m not short of ideas! 🤗

I can see that one working Pete. As for IRO, you can always rely on a contribution or two from him! 😊

Thank you. Bit of an age give away with the Carry on genre. I think I went to the pictures to see it when it came out! Certainly a line with scope that’s for sure. 😊

I would suggest that you learn up on them but your time might be better spent trying to win wargames! 😉

Love your Western stuff, just beautiful. I’ve said it before, you make me want to paint better (in a good way).
As for lines, and right up your alley: “What we have here is failure to communicate” (Cool Hand Luke). Also, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” (Jaws).
As for Pinball Wizard, one night at a battalion function back years ago we had a “Name that Tune” game that I won. The song that put me over the top was this one, that I named in 1 note!
Ever since I was a young boy I played the silver ball….

Two fantastic lines from two fantastic films. Plenty of scope to use both. 😊

I think the “Make My Day” line will never get old for me. It was delivered perfect and in just the right scene. Haha. Love that figure, too! You’re very talented!

Thank you. Not sure about being very talented but fully agree on the film line.
