TIM’s Mid Week Miniature
This weeks miniature is another female figure from Hasslefree and the last for Fembruary. The little lady goes by the name of “Katarina”. A sexy temptress for sure but clearly a more modern woman and not one to be messed with given the knife she is carrying with an intent to use.
Photo’s below of Katrina and a group shot of the previous three ladies. As a non gamer I cannot say how they fit into that world but as a figure painter they are all quite different in their own way and were fun to paint. Make of them what you will.

Go To Suppliers
Although Salute is still more than a month away I thought I ought to start making a list of things, figures inparticular, that I would like to buy if the traders are at the event and have the necessary stock. I decided to start with a list of suppliers who to date have never let me down, both in terms of quality and service. My list of 10 will be refined in due course as I remember other suppliers but in the meanwhile I thought I would share it with you.
If you have a moment I would be delighted to know what suppliers you would recommend so I can check them out before and at the show. Cheers.
Current top 10 suppliers. In no particular order …
- Knuckleduster – Gunfighters Ball
- Hasslefree
- Other World Miniatures
- Reaper
- Demented Games – Twisted Miniatures
- Crooked Dice
- Lead Adventures
- Gripping Beast
- North Star
- Empress Miniatures

This week TIM has been listening to …
“Layla” by Derek and the Dominos. Eric Clapton at his best.

This week TIM has been watching …
“Seven” starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.
I originally saw this film in Hollywood in 1995 when She Who Must Be Obeyed and I made our last trip to the USA before our son was born the following year. Very dark, quite gruesome and SWMBO hated it. She can be hard to please. I remember taking her to see Apocolypse Now for her 21st and she didn’t like that either.

Very nice- love the shading on the dress. It has the look of a light floaty material.
Cheers,
Pete.

Dixon miniatures. Foundry and Warlord Games. WG have quite a few metal miniatures in their range. Katarina is lovely mate. The green dress looks like silk. Superbly highlighted my friend.

All three make for worthy entries, can’t believe I omitted Dixon’s given how many figures I’ve done!

A few manufactures on that list I’m not familiar with, will have to go for a little nosey later (will try to put my wallet under lock and key first but I may not be successful…). Great work on Katarina, that’s a really nice rich green on the dress she’s wearing.

Not sure many of them will match the sort of figures you do unless you fancy a change but smart move on the wallet front!

Nothing wrong with GW but there is so much choice out there depending what you are into.

must admit, foundry had some really nice unusual indivual models at their place, after seeing your dioramas before i went i nearly bought a few.

Foundry are good and have a wide range but there are some fantastic suppliers out there. Worth checking out a few sites if you are getting back into the hobby. Just depends what you fancy doing. Just about everything is covered.

I really like the green on the dress- looks like a Bond chick at a soiree.
Great joke too!

Very much the Bond girl that’s for sure.

Nice paints on the women there. Most recent one turned out really excellent. The hair, the dress, skin tone, great job!
On the steampunk lady, I’m still bummed that she isn’t monochromatic. I think the first pic you posted was b/w while you were working on her, and now that is just stuck in my mind, haha! Would be pretty cool to see you do a monochromatic diorama sometime, but I imagine you have projects lined up from here to eternity already.
As for suppliers, I’ve mainly used Reaper from your list. As you know, really good company. They ship pretty fast, sometimes have a bonus mini, etc. Otherworlds miniatures makes some amazing D&D minis, but alas is across the pond, so they end up being more expensive than I like. Still, I caved in and bought some. Someday I hope to even paint them!

I do have a long list of things to do but you’ve got me thinking about black and white. Would be very different.

I’ve heard it’s much harder than it looks, but you got a lot more talent than I do! 😀

Not sure about that but it certainly wouldn’t be easy that’s for sure.
