Welcome to this weeks Miniatures & Musings!

This weeks miniature is Robin Hood. Last week I painted Friar Tuck who is paired with Robin as a pack of two figures in the Baron’s War range and this week I manged to get the prince of thieves himself done. Images of the iconic rogue below along with a couple of him together with his religious side kick.

“Florabunda”
Well my little ninja turtles I discovered three websites a few weeks ago which I thought I would share with you. All are very much geared to basing, specifically in respect of flora and fauna and although they may not be new to you they are to me.
Tajima1 is based in Cornwall, not a million miles away from me, and a small order I placed arrived very quickly and the quality of the items I bought was excellent. They don’t have a huge range of items compared to the other two sites but still we’ll worth checking out in my opinion. I’m sure I will be buying from them again.
I also bought a couple of items from Model Scenery Supplies. They are a railway accessories stockist but OO gauge is more than good enough for 28mm. In their blurb they rated MP Products as the dogs bollocks so I targeted a couple of those items and was again most impressed with the quality.
Finally I came across an Italian company, Diorama Presepe, who I have yet to buy anything from. Their range is very impressive and they have some great looking stuff. I will all most certainly be making some purchase once I have trawled the site and decided on what I want to buy.

Give Me Five
This week I thought I’d take a look at badass females. Now whilst I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of any of these young women I’d be more than happy to be dominated by Jennifer Lawrence and/or Scarlett Johansson! In no particular order my top 5 female characters not to mess with are:
- Ellen Ripley – Alien (Sigourney Weaver)
- Hit Girl – Kickass (Chloe Grace Moretz)
- Katniss Everdeen – The Hunger Games (Jeniffer Lawrence)
- Sarah Connor – The Terminator (Linda Hamilton)
- Black Widow – The Avengers (Scarlett Johansson)

This week TIM has been listening to …
“Lying Eyes” by the The Eagles. I was in an easy going mood for a change this week which is another way of saying I couldn’t be arsed to do much. There is no better music to listen to when in that sort of mood than The Eagles. If I wasn’t horizontal before I put the music on I was afterwards. I should also add what a cool album cover this is too.

This week TIM has been watching …
“Snatch” starring Brad Pitt and Jason Statham amount others. For some reason this film passed me by but my brother reminded me of it so I finally managed to sit down and watch it.
A most enjoyable couple of hours I must say.

TIM
Wonderful work on Robin TIM, you have quite the merry band developing.
Good list one for consideration would be Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in Halloween

Thanks Dave. Good shout on Jamie Lee Curtis, I rather liked her in A Fish Called Wanda too.

We have similiar tastes when it comes to them women. Ellen, Sarah and Black widdow surely are on my top lists. Funily enough I jut finished a review for an alien novel and will be watching Black Widow tonight at a cinema for the first time since we went into lockdown last year…

Enjoy the cinema, something I hope to do again soon once some of the films which have been held back are scheduled. 🙂

Lovely mini mate – Robin & his merry men will make great skirmishers & scouts in your grand army!!

Cheers Alex. The Grand army is coming along nicely and I’m expecting Robin to rally the troops. 🙂

Very nice Robin Hood mini! 🙂 I’d have thought SWMBO would be Number 1 on your list of badass women – best get that list edited sharpish!

Cheers John and that’s a good shout about SWMBO, I may have missed a trick there! 😉

Lovely work on Robin, though I always liked the Errol Flynn version best (in accurate as it is! 😉)
Your list is nearly perfect, but Black Widow at the top and “Mary Death” (Bounty Killer) – Christian Pitre instead of Jen Lawrence (I never seen the Hunger Games)..
Cheers Roger.

Thanks Roger. The thing is I have the hots for Jennifer Lawrence (and her for me if there is any truth in the rumours) so I’m loathe to take her out. Maybe this week we will have to make it a top 6. 😉

Robin of Locksley came put quite nice. How do the Baron’s War models compare to GW Empire or Bretonnian models (if you have any handy)? Im quite taken with the Baron’s War models stylistically.
Thanks for the links. Im Always on the lookout for new scenery bits n bobs. Alas, most all of the good stuff comes from your side of the pond. Not that an ocean will deter me!
Snatch is an excellent film. A six watch. The ladies are a “yes, please!” for me! JLaw is my kryptonite. I’d only add Julianne Moore for a solid 6.

Sorry, can’t help you with a GW comparison as I don’t have any figures but I’m happy to endorse the quality of the Baron’s War figures. The figures are good and so far a joy to paint. Check out the Footsore website if you haven’t already and the Baron’s War Facebook Group is worth a look too. Buying from overseas is always a pain, postage being the biggest issue but like you it doesn’t put me off. If I need it then I will buy it. As for the ladies … what can I say? 🙂

Yes. That’s what we want to see Robin of Loxely in all his glory ready to “rob from the rich”. Great stuff as usual.
I have been getting my grass tufts from Tajima for quite some time and all always impressed with the quality.

Thank you. As for Tajima I will definitely be buying from them again. 🙂

I’m still chuckling at the blonde joke! Nice work on Robin there, is that all of the Merry Men completed or are there more to come?

I must say the joke cracked me up too! As for the figures, I have Maid Marion to do in terms of known characters and then I’m upto date … for now. In September when the next kickstarter is released there will be some outlaws coming out and also a foot and mounted figure of the Sheriff of Nottingham and a lit more besides. Until they run out of ideas, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon, I can’t see myself ever catching up. As someone who likes to complete “sets” this is the one big mental problem I have to come to terms with.

Its good to see Mr. Hood painted up! It looks like a great sculpt to me. I look forward to seeing the new hobby supplies you bought as well. Snatch is one of my favorite English movies. Granted, I haven’t seen a ton but there are so many memorable characters and lines in that movie. Its very re-watchable and never gets old.

It is a fine sculpt for sure. Being such an iconic character I do wonder if further down the line they may bring out other versions of him. I hope so at any rate. 🙂

I would love that too. I may not get into the Baron’s War line for gaming but I’d certainly but a Robin Hood or two sculpt 🙂

Another wonderfully fun post. The different shades of green you used really came off well, just different enough yet tie the image together well. Maybe green is just natural for you (sorry that was too easy).

Thanks Mark. I do like Green as a colour, can’t just be coincidence can it? 😉
