Not getting much done is now becoming the new norm, however, this week I managed to get two figures painted. These weren’t figures I had originally earmarked to buy and paint for this diorama but I discovered them several months ago, thought they would fit in perfectly with what I had in mind and so I recently purchased them. If I hadn’t bought them now then it would have been to late as the diorama would have moved on and I wouldn’t have been able place them where I wanted them to go.
The figures are a four piece peasant set and came from Gripping Beasts. They were nicely sculpted and although they came with tools of their own I elected to use items which came with the Tabletop World accessories pack instead.
Not the best of photos I’m afraid as I used my iPhone to take them. Now I know most people like their iPhones but alas I buck convention. I hate mine with a vengeance and think it’s the biggest piece of shit going. I’ll go further, I hate all Apple products too. Needless to say my kids think I’m mad but I much prefer Samsung and just as soon as the contract I’m on ends I’ll be going back to them.
The figures need a little dry brushing but I’ll do that when yey are in situ and I don’t need to man handle them any more.

The aim for the coming week is to paint the other two figures and if possible get them placed on the diorama. Ordinarily that would be a formality but not these days. I’ve also got to start painting some of the birds and animals I bought. Like these figures, some of them need to be completed and placed on the diorama before I box myself in. Looking further ahead at what needs doing I still have the Barn to be painted, 12 mounted knights and half a dozen or so other foot figures. Not entirely sure if they will all fit in yet as space is starting to get tight but time will tell.

You’ll manage mate & these latest additions are really nice! It’s the little things that will sell the scene 👍

I should add I’m no fan of Apple either. Smart phones in general have their uses but the next time I get a new phone I’ll be very tempted to go back to an old brick with buttons (and yes, I know I wrote this on my smart phone, I never said I wasn’t a hypocrite!)

Great work on your latest additions TIM, hope time starts to work the other way for you soon, and you can get a bit more for this project, and that you can start getting the models placed so you can see what space you are left to work with

Thanks Dave. I’m sure I’ll get there in the end. 🤞🙂

Lovely work o0n the figures, you are working much quicker than me at the moment, so take heart from that mate.
I have recently (a couple of months) become a Samsung man myself, after nigh on tens year with my Blackberry, and though I do like my new phone, I still miss the old keyboard, I too hate all things Apple, why cant they use the same chargers as everyone else for instance!🙄
Cheers Roger.

Thanks Roger. It’s good to know I’m not the slowest painter/modeller at the moment and that I’m not alone in my dislike of apple! 🙂

Those are really nice figures, Dave – they’ve come out really well! 🙂 I can’t believe we’ve got to Part 19 already though!
As a complete flat-earther I have a phone with buttons on it! People may scoff, but it gets a signal where smart phones don’t and the battery lasts for days without charging!

Thanks John. As for the phone I envy you, I’d sooner go back to my old Nokia than what I have now.

These two look ready for work on the estate to me! 🙂 I wouldn’t say getting two miniatures done in a week is anything to sneeze at either. I use Apple products including the iPhone but I’m not enamored with them like many people are. Don’t get me started on the “Genius” bar in Apple stores either! If that wasn’t a poor name choice, I don’t know what is.

Thank you. They aren’t the best figures I’ve ever painted but for where they will be going they should work just fine. In fairness Apple aren’t that bad but I started with Samsung years ago and have maintained a natural affinity thereafter. I only moved over to an iPhone because the wife and kids went that route and it made some communication easier. Now they have grown up I can return to Samsung!

I don’t hate Apple but I think its highly overrated and there are things they get away with (like charging high prices) that is a bit irritating. Sometimes a product or company just sticks with you and it sounds like Samsung has managed that with you 🙂

Nice painting as always. I really enjoy these WIP posts. Is the pickaxe ‘normal’ metal painting or is it an NMM technique?
I’m with you on Apple products. If only the quality of the product could match their PR department!

Thank you. The pick axe is painted using Vallejo Gun Metal and a light dry brush after, nothing fancy. 🙂

The faces on those have come out really well. Real character there and they fit into the peasant look perfectly. The colours offset the clothing as well as a nice contrast but not a clashing one.

These fellows look pretty good to me mate, as for the Iphone I got one some years back and at first it was a bother but now you I couldn’t do without it. I have suffered from industrial deafness and have had hearing aids for many years, the trouble I have had with all the previous phones are numerous but with this new fellow things are much better as the conversation i’m having goes directly to my hearing aids. Bloody marvellous! but as you know mate, I have that technical assistance living next door!!
