TIM’s Miniatures & Musings (No: 44)

Welcome to this weeks Miniatures & Musings!

This week sees another figure by Hasslefree – “Bambi”.  Everytime I look at this figure it reminds me of She Who Must Be Obeyed.  Not so much the flowing hair, thigh high boots and ample cleavage, more the ball and chain!

Coronavirus – Self Isolation Week 3

Day 15 – One of those days where I found myself trying to gain some perspective on the present circumstances and what the potential future will look like.  I suspect I will have more days like this one.   Concluded that the world I knew as of a few weeks ago is now completely fucked.  Promised myself that tomorrow I will wear my positive hat.

Day 16 – Today’s highlight was putting out the rubbish.  Ordinarily I wouldn’t give the matter a second thought but it occurred to me that I now get to go out as much as the rubbish does.  Think I might have to make this my dressing up day from now on.

Day 17 – Crooked Dice order arrived today but still no sign of four outstanding orders.  Disappointed but not surprised.  Will have to result to some weird colour combinations if my paint orders don’t arrive soon.  Think I will place another Crooked Dice order too.

Day 18 – In an effort to get me motivated and out of the house She Who Must Be Obeyed pointed out that the weather was ideal for getting on with those outside jobs.  I pointed out that I cannot get the bloody materials for doing any of them!  Hooray! More time for painting and modelling.

Day 19 – Started to wonder how long people will be prepared to stay cooped up for before they say “Fuck this I’ll take my chances”.  Not sure it did me much good but if nothing else my thoughts sparked an idea or two for a couple of apocalypse dioramas.

Day 20 – Despite walking the dog the best part of 5 miles each day I seem to find myself more and more physically drained.  Cannot claim to be ill but equally am a far cry from feeling 100%.  Indicative of the crazy times we now find ourselves living in?  Will go with the answer yes.

Day 21 – Three weeks of isolation under the belt and only nine to go assuming the UK government plan stays on course.  This week hasn’t been a good one.  SWMBO decided to go through her wardrobe.  She proudly announced “Look, after 25 years this still fits!”.  Pointing out that the said garment was a scarf didn’t go down well.

This week TIM has been listening to …

“Ca Plane Pour Moi” by Plastic Bertrand.

This is what three weeks of isolation has done to me!  Seriously worried where the next nine weeks may lead.

This week TIM has been watching…

“The Wolf Of Wall Street” starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Thought I would remind myself of lifes excesses pre the Coronavirus.  Cannot see anything other than a changed world (hopefully a better one) once this is all over.

  1. Cracking mini mate, and yeah, this isolation business sucks a whole big bag of dicks… Starting to get used to it though – painting, gaming and modelling with the kids, PE in the garden, meeting friends on Zoom etc… I’m actually starting to worry that we’ll all be a bit Shawshank when it’s all over!! Ah well, keep buggering on eh?

    1. Buggering on indeed. I think it will take a while to crank ourselves up after so much isolation and inactivity. Can see a lot of people going back to work initially happy only to say fuck this for a game of soldiers when the bosses crack the whip.

  2. love the mini, nicely painted. Its funny you mention this lack of energy and not feeling well, Annie and i have had the same, its not the virus although she is a checkout assistant and dont get much protection, take last night, we had been and done a garden for 3 hours, had lunch and i was painting some british dragoons, i had this really painful stomach ache, i almost felt sick, after a few moments trying not to let the wife see my discomfort i came over all sweaty and started to get really hot, i think it was a panic attack of sorts, never had one before so i’m not sure which alerted my wife to me struggling, after about an hour i cooled down again but even today i still have a few pains, i have put it down to pulling my stomach gardening, fingers crossed, stay safe mate..

    1. Had more than my share of panic attacks and they are far from pleasant. Mostly I have found they can be controlled as you begin to recognise the symptoms in yourself. One of the reasons why I have always maintained my modelling and painting as a means to relax. As a family we have all felt a bit odd of late but with so much going on it is perhaps hardly surprising. I think the mind as much as anything can cause the biggest problems. Look after yoiurselves.

      1. At last, got the internet back, bloody virgin media. Yes i think watching too much doom and gloom on the tv isnt helpful either, er indoors has to watch every bulletin going, but as someone that has to face the public every day, she likes to keep aware. I must admit though, cant wait until the virus has gone, but i love the space at the checkouts you now get, no body ramming your ankles with a trolley because they want to rush off, and the roads are pure bliss, as an anti social type anyway, staying indoors dont bother me. Right i am off to see what i want to order next as my trial continues..
