Welcome to this weeks Miniatures & Musings!
—000—
This weeks miniature is actually two figures. In an effort to get my small back log of knights done and to keep you all from being bored by the same old paint scheme I thought I’d post two figures this week and if all goes well the same next week. These Footsore figures are not for my own collection but for selling on Ebay (unless for some reason they see them as racist and they have to be taken down!), hence the rather simplistic paint scheme. The standard bearer which featured last week has already been sold so a final group shot is now out of the question.

The Wednesday Whinge
One thing I noticed following retirement is that some people who have retired act like they haven’t. I didn’t pick up on this phenomenon at the start of my retirement 14 years ago but even if I had I would probably have let it go. Since then of course there have been lots of changes, chief amongst them being that I have become far less tolerant and an even grumpier old git. I find these days that I simply cannot let things go. I see it as one of the few perks of the aging process.
For better or worse our Village Hall Committee has recently acquired two new members. One is an old boy, a retired army major, the other a former company director. Both share the same common trait in that neither of them has grasped that their days of issuing orders and having them carried out without question have passed. I have, as has become my way of late, managed to fall out with them both.
Unfortunately our Secretary was unable to attend the recent Zoom meeting which led to the former company director taking it upon himself to instruct me for some reason to do the minutes. I politely declined pointing out he was quite capable of doing them himself without the need to delegate. This didn’t seem to go down well with the retired major who for reasons best known to himself saw fit to admonish me which got right up my nose. With much satisfaction I informed him that he was no longer in the army, I was not under his command and if I wanted to tell him to Foxtrot Oscar it wouldn’t result in a Court Marshall. All in all a great meeting. Two birds with one stone.
The sooner this obnoxious pair begin to understand that retirement is a level playing field so much the better.

Give Me Five
Having done UK sitcoms last week this time it is the US. Just as difficult as last time to come down to five but nonetheless here they are. In no particular order:
- MASH
- Friends
- The Munsters
- Roseanne
- Home Improvement

This week TIM has been listening to …
“We Didn’t Start The Fire” by Billy Joel. I hadn’t intended to listen to this but it popped up on YouTube. I like the track anyway but this version caught my attention with the historical edit.
—000—
This week TIM has been watching …
“The Bay” series One and Two. Only discovered this series when a mate mentioned it in passing during a Zoom call. Binge watched them over a few nights and enjoyed them both. It always helps when the characters in a drama are believable.

TIM
Great work on the knights TIM, shame about the group photo, but cool that you’ve already managed to sell the model.
If you laugh at someone trying to tell you what to do, they tend to leave you alone ! Probably as they’re not sure if your a sociopath or not ! LOL
As I said last week not big on sitcoms, but have enjoyed watching Resident Alien recently starring Alan Tudyk, extremely funny

Haha, thanks Dave, think I’ll have to.start laughing at people more once lockdown ends, I’ve quite enjoyed my space. 😂 Will check out Resident Alien as that’s not one I’m familiar with. Sold the figure for £40.00 so more than likely that more knights will be on the way in due course! 🙂

I think your advice might be flawed Dave! My wife told me to get the dishes washed and I just laughed at her – I won’t be doing that again! 😉

Really nice work on the Knights, and two for the price of one, we are honoured!
As far as the village hall meeting goes just remember “You have no authority here Davy Weaver!!”.
Top five US sitcoms….
The Big Bang Theory
Community
Superstore
Brooklyn 99
Police Squad
(and I am watching Cheers every morning now too).
Cheers Roger.

Haha, yes village community life so wonderful! Love your list Roger which just proves my point at how difficult it is to chose five.

Another excellent knight mate, I really don’t know how you can sell them – it would break my heart!

Yes I know what you mean but for relatively simple figures like these with little base work it’s easy enough to do another. If I’m honest I also get a buzz out of someone liking my stuff enough to pay for it, very flattering really. 🙂

Love the kinights- some of my favourite work of yours as they are in a more naturalistic style than a lot I’ve seen else where and are much better for it.
Cheers,
Pete.

Yeah, some point seem to think that they can get away with just telling everyone else what to do. Thing is a lot of the time they do get away with it, they even get rewarded for it. Won’t have done them any harm to be told “no”, if they think they can get away with treating someone as a doormat they will, if they know it’s not going to work they’ll probably move along to bothering some other poor sap.
Once again, great work on those knights. I know they’re not your favourites but I’m still enjoying them. 🙂

Well glad you are enjoying the knights because I just put an order in for 24 more! I was getting stuck in a rut with them but then I got my lazy arse in gear and did more research on the period and suddenly became very inspired! 🤣🤣

Love the pair of crusader knights, but I love the Zoom story even more. Kudos! 🙂

Haha, it was one thing to suffer these people when I worked but fucked if I’m going to put up with it in retirement! Glad you like the knights. 🙂

First of all mate I have to say thanks to the Billy Video ! so good mate, being an old guy I can appreciate how clever it was. That’s great but how you deal with pricks is so good ! maybe you can knock up a manual on dealing with them as I feel there is a rise over here as well and your help would be much appreciated.

It is a cool video Pat and as you say very clever how these are put together. Sadly Pat there are far to many pricks are out there, all Covid has done is highlight just how many there are in the world. Makes me want to sell up and head even further into the country than I already am. In an ideal world I would head for Aus but alas I doubt they’d take me. Should have married an Australian girl ike your Fiona! 🙂 if I could only roll back the years! 😂😂

Love it mate! may be we can do an exchange program!! I just miss the Orky, Goblin ,Elvin, lights you have, they don’t really fit in to our bright glaring sky’s as you may remember back when you were on Kangaroo Island al those years ago. On the bit about Fi ! no mate you lucky to have SHWMBO ! talk about parent bullying!!Oh well Its all my fault for making my kids into tough individuals. Hey mate you can always get to immigrate through the father son method!!!(only modelers need apply )!!

Well one day, sooner rather than later if I have my way I’d like to get to Aus again that’s for sure. Yes you’re probably right about Fi, she does seem like a strong women and I’m not sure if I could handle that at my time of life! Seriously, she does sound like a great kid, needs to be in this world now so reckon you’ve done a good job there mate. I’d forgotten about my modelling son, will go and check the immigration rules, hopefully there is a loophole in the small print! 😂😂

Always happy to see knights and even more glad to see two of them! I like the color scheme you used on them as it fits the desert setting of the Crusades well. I hope you’re able to move them on eBay without any fuss this time as well 🙂

Thank you. As for these two I’ve now had bids on both which is pleasing so that group photo is getting even smaller!

Nice knight! I’d say “good Knight” but its the afternoon! Seriously, surprised to hear the attitude of your fellow volunteer – jackasses have no limits it seems.

Thanks Mark. As for the jackasses hopefully they have been sorted for now. 🙂
