Dio-Bolical Monday No: 55 – “Death & Taxes: The Earls Visit – Part 33”

This week sees a return to my outstanding mounted knights.  The good news, for me at least, is I am on the downward slope and in a few weeks time they will all be done and work will begin on the final phase of this diorama.  Until then though it’s one knight at a time.

To be honest I can’t think of much to say about this one and will probably have even less to say as I paint and subsequently post details of the others.  Essentially it’s now just a case of picking a colour scheme, preferably something I haven’t done before, and then getting the job done.  On this occasion I went for two shades of blue.

Photo’s of my latest offering below.

  1. Looks like you used a darker skin tone? Hard to tell if that’s lighting or not. Looks good though! I like the horse, you do horses so well. I also really like the ‘simple’ shield design. Choosing color schemes you haven’t used before can be such a chore, so I hear ya. Hey, once you finish this, I hear there is some guy with a few Zulu warriors that need painting! ;D

  2. I think it is most likely caused by the photo lighting as I didn’t deviate from my normal methods. Playing around with the various colours and coming up with something different is a challenge but bit by bit I’m getting there. As for Zulus I think we might all need to lend a hand!

    1. The teasing isn’t intentional I promise. To many other things stealing my time this summer which has slowed me down unfortunately. As to the diorama itself this will be the biggest I’ve ever done. It measures 3 feet wide by 1 foot deep and 1 foot high. The good news is I have space for this one but the bad news is I don’t have space for much else!

  3. There’s no doubt that the knight himself doesn’t stick out in a crowd but it was a great chance to show off your horse painting skills at the same time. He should look great in the procession that all of us are dying to see 🙂 Keep at it and you’ll be on to a new project soon, I reckon!
