Dio-Bolical Monday No: 56 – “Death & Taxes: The Earls Visit – Part 34”

Another simple paint job this week and a return to the colour green.  More importantly though another knight down!

I confess it has been tempting at times to simply go with less knights in the diorama but then I started feeling guilty about being lazy and decided I had to finish what I started. It isn’t painting knights which is the problem, in fact once this project is complete I will almost certainly be painting some others, it’s more a case of wanting to see the project come to an end.  This one has been running for months and months now and I’m growing impatient to see it completed.  That said I’m equally conscious that the last 10% is where most mistakes happen so I need to remain focused.

Only a couple to go now and then I can have more fun doing base work.  Meanwhile images below.

  1. Great looking knight Dave, and the horde colour works well against the knight. Keep focused, as you don’t want to spoil it now after all the hard work you’ve put in

  2. But wait, where is Sir Gawain!? 😉 The knight (and horse) looks great, and I’m glad you’re able to keep at it. It will all pay off in the end, for sure! In the meantime, we get to enjoy all these well painted minis you keep putting out! 🙂

      1. You got it! I was going to ask you, are you still selling painted minis on eBay? I keep thinking about it from time to time, but then talk myself out of it.

      2. I’m not really selling on ebay at the moment but once this project is done I think I’m going to look at doing so again. Not sure now successful it will be though. Rising costs in the UK mean people have more important things to spend their money on I suspect.

      3. Yep, the economy is also a factor over here. I would usually sell some old game stuff on eBay once a week, but I started to see less being sold and decided to hold off for a bit.

  3. Its not the time for half measures, mate! The more knights, the more impressive it will look in the end, I reckon. The latest one looks great and don’t be afraid to give yourself a small break. It seems like it might help you build up a bit more enthusiasm for painting these armored blokes!

  4. Another fine addition! Quick question, where are you getting the barons mini? I know footsore minis sell the range but I’ve never used them (in Sept they are releasing a range from Trish Carden and I’m interested in at least one of them hence the query).

    1. Thank you. All these mounted knights came from the medieval range of an Italian company company called Mirliton – https://www.mirliton.it/

The Footsore Baron’s War range is excellent and I’d recommend them for sure but I wanted mounted figures which weren’t in fighting mode and was lucky enough to find this Italian company whose quality is just as good.
