This week sees a return to my outstanding mounted knights. The good news, for me at least, is I am on the downward slope and in a few weeks time they will all be done and work will begin on the final phase of this diorama. Until then though it’s one knight at a time.
To be honest I can’t think of much to say about this one and will probably have even less to say as I paint and subsequently post details of the others. Essentially it’s now just a case of picking a colour scheme, preferably something I haven’t done before, and then getting the job done. On this occasion I went for two shades of blue.
Photo’s of my latest offering below.

Nicely done, Dave! 🙂 I like the blue, I like the horse colour and it all goes together well!

Great work on the knight Dave, the chestnut horse works well against the blue

Thanks Dave. I’m trying to make each one a little different where I can. 🙂

“One knight at a time, sweet David, that’s all I’m asking of you!”…..Bugger I’m going to have Lena Martel in my head for the rest of the day now! 🙄
Lovely work as always mate.
Cheers Roger.

Cheers Roger and sorry for the song in your head. I know how irritating that can be! 😂

Thanks IRO. It’s really getting there now but still a few more weeks of knights to go first.

Looks like you used a darker skin tone? Hard to tell if that’s lighting or not. Looks good though! I like the horse, you do horses so well. I also really like the ‘simple’ shield design. Choosing color schemes you haven’t used before can be such a chore, so I hear ya. Hey, once you finish this, I hear there is some guy with a few Zulu warriors that need painting! ;D

I think it is most likely caused by the photo lighting as I didn’t deviate from my normal methods. Playing around with the various colours and coming up with something different is a challenge but bit by bit I’m getting there. As for Zulus I think we might all need to lend a hand!

Is this going to end up being one of your biggest dioramas to date? It feels like you’ve been teasing us for ages!

The teasing isn’t intentional I promise. To many other things stealing my time this summer which has slowed me down unfortunately. As to the diorama itself this will be the biggest I’ve ever done. It measures 3 feet wide by 1 foot deep and 1 foot high. The good news is I have space for this one but the bad news is I don’t have space for much else!

Just reread that and see how it could sound bad. I was thinking more of salivating at the mouth. Like Homer, from the Simpsons, with donuts 😂

Nice work TIM sounds like the home stretch is in sight. I really like the 2 blues on this model.

Thanks mate, glad you like it. Yes, very much on the home straight now. A few more weeks of work still to go but that feels like nothing given how much time I’ve spent on it already!

You’ll have to think about what is next soon then 😀

Another good ‘um mate! I think it’s just the angle that the photo has been taken but the horse looks wryly amused by something in the second to last photo.

Haha, yes he does! I think he’s just happy that he got painted at last as he’s been hanging around undercoated for slong!

Another cracker mate – how many more to go now?

By the look of it I’ve got three more mounted knights to go and then I can get to work on the basing again and bring this project to an end for my benefit and everyone else’s!

It’ll be worth it mate, it’s gonna look ace 😎

There’s no doubt that the knight himself doesn’t stick out in a crowd but it was a great chance to show off your horse painting skills at the same time. He should look great in the procession that all of us are dying to see 🙂 Keep at it and you’ll be on to a new project soon, I reckon!

Cheers mate. A few weeks to go on this one but I’m already starting to wonder what to do next. Half the problem is space so I reckon it might be single figures for a while.

The good thing about single figures is that you’ll get plenty of variety in your projects, if nothing else.

I’m not normally a blues man but you have pulled this one of mate, wow thats a big one Dave and I know what you mean about space Fi wants me to sell some at an Xmas stall but I’m not sure at the moment!

Space, the biggest problem with the hobby. Maybe Fi is right but you’ll only end up filling it all up again! 😂😂
